Utah DUI Practice
Abraham Bates is a DUI defense attorney practicing in Utah. Based out of Salt Lake City, his practice covers the entire state of Utah. For the last two decades, Abe Bates has developed the tools and skills to effectively counsel and defend people accused of Utah DUI offenses.
Early Career
Abe competed in scholastic debates, and won many tournaments throughout high-school and college. Abe then worked for two powerful and well-connected members of the United States House Of Representatives in Washington, D.C. Abe then returned to his home in Utah, where he worked as a chemical addiction counselor. This experience showed him how to help good people who get in trouble because of alcohol or drugs. It was this experience that inspired him to devote his legal career to defending those accused of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Dedicated Legal Career
Abe fights for the rights of people accused of DUI and believes that the criminal justice system is too heavy and punitive on otherwise law-abiding citizens who make the unfortunate mistake of driving after drinking. He also believes that many people are wrongfully accused of DUI, and without the help of a skilled and passionate defense lawyer, they may slip through the cracks and be falsely labeled as a "criminal."
Forensic Science Background
Utah DUI cases involve a heavy emphasis of forensic science as it relates to alcohol and drug testing and the effects of chemicals on the human body and perception. Abe has a strong forensic background. In fact, he was given an award for Outstanding Achievement in Scientific Forensic Evidence by former US Attorney and University of Utah Law School Dean, Professor Scott Matheson.
Open and Accessible
Abe is a strong believer that everybody should have access to an aggressive and passionate DUI defense from a private lawyer. He believes that you have a right to know exactly what is happening and is going to happen in your case, including what it will cost you. Abe will spend a lot of time with you at your initial meeting, and early on in your case to make sure that you understand the process and know exactly what to expect from him and from the courts, and will help you take additional steps to put yourself in the best possible position early on. Abe also understands that the waiting and not knowing can be one of the most stressful aspects of your case. He therefore makes himself highly available to answer your questions, and knows that it is his job not only to defend you, but also to make sure you are comfortable and secure along the way. Abe is easy to talk to. You will never feel judged by him, and all of your concerns will be taken seriously and addressed.
