Phil Wormdahl
Prior to becoming a defense attorney at Wasatch Advocates, Phil's experience focused on the prosecution side of criminal law. Phil spent 2008-09 working at the Salt Lake City Prosecutor's Office. This experience has given Phil a behind-the-scenes look at how prosecutors approach cases and how they prepare for trial. Phil uses this unique perspective to his client's advantage. Phil's work in the prosecutor's office included both motion and trial practice. Phil successfully drafted and argued against several motions to exclude evidence and dismiss charges. In addition, Phil assisted in the prosecution of many trials, including DUIs, reckless driving and domestic violence.
Before entering the practice of law, Phil was already pursuing experience in trial practice. In his final year of law school, Phil was one of four students chosen for his law school's Trial Advocacy Team. As a member of the team, Phil underwent six months of one-on-one training in trial practice with Richard McKelvie, an Assistant U.S. Attorney. This experience gave Phil the trial skills necessary to make sure that a jury will hear his client's side of the story before they render a verdict.
Whether you need an attorney who can negotiate with prosecutors to get the best possible plea, write motions and argue to judges to get damaging evidence excluded from court, or take a case to trial, Phil Wormdahl can help you.
